fIVE WAYS YOUR CHILD BENEFITS FROM NURSERY

Your child will never grow faster than in the years before they start school. We look at five compelling ways that nursery helps your child to grow.

Rebecca Douglass has spent her entire career in early years education, has Early Years Professional Status and is a graduate in Early Education Studies and Early Years. She has been with Alpha Kindergarten Group for over a decade and is now oversees Park Lane Kids as Operations Director.

Your child will never grow faster than in the years before they start school. At this age, every experience is a learning opportunity and helps your child develop their skills.

This is one of the reasons why increasing numbers of parents have been sending their child to nursery in recent years. The benefits of attending nursery are backed up by research – studies from Oxford University found that children who attend nursery are twice as likely to achieve good qualifications at school.

Here are five compelling ways that nursery helps your child to grow:

1. It's an environment designed to help them grow

Nursery is an environment designed to support your child’s development. At Park Lane Kids, we have designed the rooms to be rich in stimulating activities and displays and new and familiar experiences which will support your child’s inquisitive minds. The is important for younger children as it encourages the pathways in your child’s brain to connect and develop.

2. They will be learning through play with activities designed around them

Children have a natural drive to learn and we encourage this by learning through play. But a good nursery doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all childcare. At Park Lane Kids, our qualified team are able to design activities and games around your child’s individual needs. They create fun activities which help to develop your child’s skills.

By attending a nursery, your child will be cared for by a team of qualified professionals who have specialist training. The team at Park Lane Kids constantly undergo training to learn new skills and keep up to date with the latest guidance and thinking in early years care. That means that your child will be cared for by staff with specialist qualifications in areas like special needs or under-two care.

5. They will be ready for school

A smooth transition to school is important to help your child settle into Reception and reach their full potential. At nursery, we work closely with your child’s new school so that they have all the information needed to support you and your child to be school ready when the time comes. Their pre-school class will be made up of their year group, so there is a chance they will already have some friends when they move to Reception. We also help your child as they get ready for school including roleplays about the school day, support to become more independent and a visit from their Reception class teachers.
